AVIOSTART would like to announce that the company has started the process of replacement of its eastern AN 24 fleet to western type. The project involve the purchasing of two PIAGGIO AVANTI aircraft.
The first PIAGGIO AVANTI I aircraft was previously operated in Italy MSN 1032 and it is already purchased from the owner PIAGGIO AIRCRAFT. We expect the aircraft to be set in service, ready to suit your needs in the beginning of April 2009.
The P180 Avanti is Piaggio Aero’s flagship product. It is the world’s fastest turboprop business aircraft. It offers customers the speed of a light jet aircraft, the comfort of a large, quiet, midsize cabin, and fuel efficiencies that are nearly 40% higher than most business jets and 25% higher than the most efficient twin turboprops.
The P180 Avanti II is the culmination of an effort by Piaggio Aero engineers to design, without compromise, an aircraft to meet the objectives of jet-like speed, a wide-body, stand-up cabin, and turboprop efficiency. After an intensive aerodynamic analysis and thousands of hours of wind tunnel testing, Piaggio engineers concluded that these goals could not be achieved utilizing conventional aircraft configurations.

The Avanti I offers a cabin with spaciousness and comfort that can be found only in aircraft costing up to twice as much. The cabin is over 6 feet wide and 5 feet 9 inches tall. That’s over a foot wider and taller than the best-selling business jet and provides Avanti I passengers with ample room to stand up and move around freely.
While in flight, the spacious cabin sets new standards in quietness and smoothness. The Avanti I cabin is rated as low as 68 dbA speech interference level, quieter than any other aircraft in its class. The pusher engines direct sound toward the tail of the aircraft, leaving the Avanti I’s cabin virtually free of power plant noise. The combined wing/engine/fuselage design also reduces vibration, giving you a level of smoothness similar to first-class travel on commercial airlines.
In an aircraft that can fly as high as the Avanti I, air pressure can affect your comfort. With a 9.0 psi differential, the Avanti I’s cabin maintains sea-level pressure up to 24,000 feet. At its certified 41,000 foot altitude, the cabin maintains an air pressure comparable to Santa Fe, New Mexico or Val d’Isere, France.
The fully enclosed lavatory offers privacy and space that will exceed your expectations. It can accommodate a vanity with hot and cold running water.

Each component of the Avanti was shaped to slice through the air smoothly and quietly. A single, uninterrupted aerodynamic curve sweeps from the Avanti nose to its tail – decreasing drag and improving laminar flow. This shape, is supported by three aeronautical design elements are responsible for the unparalleled efficiency of the Avanti.
Key to the Avanti I’s speed and efficiency is the three lifting surface configuration. The Avanti I’s forward wing (which is not a canard because it has no control surfaces) is a fixed lifting surface which has flaps that move in concert with main wing flaps. The forward wing pitch angle is set so it stalls before the main wing, producing an automatic nose-down effect; its five degree negative dihedral keeps the stream wash interference clear of the engine inlets, the main wing and the horizontal stabiliser. The global effect of the three lifting surfaces in the Avanti I allows some 34% total wing area reduction over conventional design, hence a proportional benefit in weight and drag.
By taking advantage of the pusher configuration’s undisturbed airflow over the main wing to enhance laminarity, laminar flow over 50% of the wing chord was achieved, which compares to a maximum of 20% of wing chord normally obtained on tractor type propeller aircraft.
Piaggio engineers achieved further aerodynamic efficiency with a glass smooth skin by utilizing proven construction techniques but reversing the normal process. The aluminum fuselage skins are formed to exact dimensions and held in place by vacuum molds. Stringers and formers are attached from the inside – thus avoiding typical fuselage imperfections found on other aircraft.
The result is that the Avanti I achieves a specific range of .84 nm per pound of fuel – a figure unrivaled by any other business jet or turboprop today.
